Woman pleads guilty to child endangering

STAFF REPORT

WARREN — A Farmdale woman has received a three-year jail term after pleading guilty a second time to child endangering for dipping her 14-month-old daughter in scalding bathtub water last May.

Catherine Hall, 22, of state Route 193, pleaded guilty to the charge in August and then withdrew the plea before sentencing.

She again pleaded guilty Thursday during a pretrial hearing before Judge John M. Stuard in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court and received her sentence immediately. She had been scheduled to go on trial in April.

Hall could have received up to five years in prison on the third-degree felony.

Police said Hall told them she tested the water’s temperature several times before dipping the child’s feet in the water at the home on Mauro Circle in Niles where she lived with her husband, Mitchell Hall.

The child’s grandmother, Kelly Hall of Niles, said the child spent 10 days in an Akron hospital for burns on her feet and ankles but is now walking and recovering. She lives with Mitchell Hall.

Mitchell Hall filed for divorce from Catherine Hall a couple weeks after the incident.
