Leavittsburg man indicted on child-rape charge

WARREN — A Trumbull County grand jury indicted a 35-year-old Leavittsburg man on a charge that could land him in prison for life because police said he raped a 5-year-old girl who lived in the home where he was staying.

Guy B. McFarland will be arraigned on the charge at 11 a.m. March 27 in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. A grand jury handed up the rape indictment earlier this week.

Lt. Don Bishop of the Warren Township Police Department said McFarland was watching the girl March 9 for her father while the father left to work on another house.

The father returned home unexpectedly and saw McFarland sexually assaulting the girl, Bishop said.
