Football pasta dinner

The Youngstown city schools will have a second annual Junior High Football Pasta Dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. June 6 at the Itam Pavilion, 354 Calvin St., on the city’s North Side.

Tickets are $10 and will be available beginning April 1 by contacting Dominic Modarelli or Edward Matey at the board of education offices at (330) 744-6900.

All proceeds benefit the junior high football programs. The goal is to raise $4,000.

‘Take the Test’ night

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown Community School is inviting parents, teachers and community members to a “Take the Test” night from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 30 at the school, 50 Essex St.

The sample test will show the knowledge needed in third-grade reading and fifth-grade mathematics.

One way to alleviate the anxiety over achievement tests is to make the tests less mysterious, and that is what “Take the Test” night is designed to do.

Preschool registration

NORTH LIMA — North Lima Preschool, in Mount Olivet United Church of Christ at 410 W. South Range Road, is accepting registration for this fall.

The preschool class is for children who reach age 3 before Sept. 30, 2009, while the kindergarten readiness class is for those who reach age 4 by that date.

Education Day at Ursuline

YOUNGSTOWN — Ursuline High School, 750 Wick Ave., will have fifth- and sixth-grade Education Day from 9:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Friday.

The program will allow students to participate in some of the 20 special sessions planned by faculty and coaches.

Students can attend three sessions of their choosing, a one-act play, an interactive session with the band and have lunch in the cafeteria.

AUSTINTOWN — Ohio Connections Academy, a K-12 virtual public school, will conduct an informational session for interested families at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Country Inn and Suites, 5570 Interstate Blvd.

Educational evening set

CANFIELD — Operation Keepsake, Inc. will host an educational evening with Miriam Grossman, author of “Unprotected” at 6 p.m. April 1 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road.

Grossman is a Senior Fellow at the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute and a former UCLA staff psychiatrist.

She tackles the issue of sex education as a matter of life or death for teens and college students today.
