Dann, committee violated election law
Marc Dann Discusses the Case
STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS
The Ohio Elections Commission determined today that former Attorney General Marc Dann and his campaign committee violated state election law for using campaign money to pay for a security system at his Liberty house and for the personal use of cell phones.
The panel publicly reprimanded Dann for the cell phone violation and fined him the maximum of $1,000 for the security system violation.
The panel declined to send either violation to a county prosecutor. A second complaint is still pending.
The Democrat resigned in May amid a sexual harassment scandal in his office.
The commission also found Mary Beth Snyder, Dann’s deputy campaign treasurer, guilty in connection with the security system purchase and fined her $250. They dismissed a claim against Snyder related to the cell phone issue.
