Youngstown police looking for truck involved in hit-and-run death


YOUNGSTOWN — The victim of a hit-and-run incident on South Avenue has died, according to a police report.

Paul Larson, 52, of Campbell, was killed after being struck by two vehicles about 9:05 p.m. Tuesday. Larson was crossing South Avenue near Hilton Avenue and was hit by a white pickup truck traveling southbound. He was knocked to the ground and into the northbound lane, where he was hit by a second vehicle, the report said.

According to the report, witnesses saw the first vehicle do a U-turn and drive past the scene before fleeing. The second vehicle remained at the scene.

Witnesses described the pickup truck as possibly a four-door Ford F-250 with a black ladder in the bed. The driver’s side headlight was out, and there was about a foot-long scratch on the driver’s side. The driver is believed to be a white male and two passengers also were in the truck.
