The second victim of the early Tuesday shooting died at the hospital.

YOUNGSTOWN — A shooting on the city’s South Side left two men dead, with two others who narrowly escaped.

Police arrived just after 2 a.m. Tuesday to find one man dead, one critically wounded and two unharmed. Police were told all were inside the 728 Brentwood Ave. home when shooting broke out.

Officers approached the residence to find Anthony Bell, 31, of East Midlothian Boulevard on the rear door steps, not breathing, with a pool of blood under his head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Vandy Bryant, 25, of Roslyn Avenue, was found with a gunshot wound to the abdomen next to his car near 780 Brentwood.

Inside the car, police said they found a black ski mask and a bulletproof vest.

Bryant was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Health Center and pronounced dead a short time later.

A 28-year-old man who was inside the home at the time of the shooting told police he was asleep on a sofa bed in the dining room when he heard a loud bang.

He said he saw a man in a ski mask shooting inside the house, so he “played dead” until the shooting stopped.

The man told police he ran out of the residence and saw a friend who had also been inside. The fourth man said he heard the shooting and jumped out of a bedroom window to escape.

When police arrived, the men were standing at the corner of Brentwood and Glenwood avenues, and one was waving his arms yelling, “They just tried to rob us. They were shooting all over the place. I don’t know if they’re still in there,” according to police reports.

Youngstown police are continuing to investigate. No suspects have been named.
