Polish Easter event set at St. Casimir’s

YOUNGSTOWN — Swieconka, a free Polish Easter traditions workshop and celebration, will take place Sunday from 1-5 p.m. at St. Casimir Church, 149 Jefferson St., Youngstown.

Featured will be a Polish deli with imported kolbasi and other deli items; a Polish bakery with homemade kolachi, babka, Easter bread and more; the Polish Peddler with wooden eggs, decorating kits, and blessing basket cloths; and a Polish bar with Polish beer and vodka.

The schedule follows: 1 p.m., Easter practices in Poland and for Polish Americans; 1:30 p.m., Easter food demonstration; 2 p.m., palm weaving; 3 p.m., wax-decorated eggs; and 4 p.m., decorative paper cuttings.

Security will be on site for the event, a fundraiser for the dance group, which needs costumes for summer performances.
