Liberty police looking for man who robbed convenience store
LIBERTY — Township police are still looking for a man who ran off with cigarettes from a local convenience store leading a store employee on a short car chase.
According to police reports, a man walked into Conroy’s Express on Belmont Avenue early Sunday morning and asked to purchase three cartons of cigarettes, then tried to snatch the cigarettes and run out of the store. The store clerk and the man got into a wrestling match over the items.
The man told the clerk, “You don’t want to get shot over this,” and then ran out of the store with the stolen items. The store clerk locked the doors and drove off behind the thief long enough to get a description of the car he was driving and a license plate number.
Police checked a Girard address where the registered owner is believed to live, but no one was home.
