YWCA seeks entries for art show

YOUNGSTOWN — The YWCA of Youngstown is accepting entries for its Women Artists: A Celebration annual art show, which will take place at the Butler North, next to the Butler Institute of American Art.

Female artists at least 18 years old are eligible to enter original artwork, including, painting, drawing, graphics, photography, sculpture, fiber, ceramics, metalwork and computer-generated art. Only CD or slide entries will be accepted. Artists may submit a maximum of five entries and must pay a nonrefundable fee of $7 per entry. The deadline for entries is April 20.

Kimberly Koller-Jones, Executive Director of the Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts in New Castle, Pa., will be the juror for the show. Approximately $1,000 in merit prizes will be awarded, including a prize for a local artist residing within 40 miles of the YWCA of Youngstown, and a YWCA Award to an entry that reflects the mission of the YWCA, which is “eliminating racism and empowering women.”

The exhibit at the Butler North will be open for public viewing July 11 through 26.

Suzanne Anzellotti-Ray and Brenda Myers Cohen are the co-chairs of the 27th annual event. Home Savings is the corporate sponsor.
