Senior Independence Senior Center of Mahoning County, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, has planned the following activities: Monday, Men’s and Women’s Needlecraft Club at 8:30 a.m., and bridge and St. Patrick’s Day party at 1; Tuesday, oil painting, free Joggin’ Your Noggin’ Part 11and New Middletown Fun Day at 10, computer class at 10 and noon, digital club at 2; Wednesday, watercolor class and Lake Milton Fun Day at 10 a.m., computer at 10 and noon, tai chi at noon, and 500 cards at 1 p.m.; Thursday, Watch Our Weight and Woodcarvers at 9 a.m., Boardman Fun Day at 10, exercise at noon, line dancing at 1 p.m., and beginner line dancing at 2; and Friday, Sebring Fun Day at 10 and Texas Hold’em at 1 p.m. The center has applications for HEAP and for the AT&T telephone Lifeline Program that can save $12.41 a month off a local bill. Free income tax assistance will be offered at the center. Trained AARP tax experts will be on hand from 9 a.m. to noon each Monday and Friday. Appointments are required, no walk-ins. Seniors are to take last year’s tax return and 2008 papers. This year, you may take the Standard Deduction and add property taxes you paid.
