300 Sisters in Red will have health fair
YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, in partnership with Humility of Mary Health Partners, will sponsor its annual “300 Sisters in Red” Health Fair from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 18 at Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University.
Health professionals will offer information on ways to ensure a healthy lifestyle and prevent or combat heart disease, diabetes and breast cancer.
Guest speakers will offer in-depth information on diabetes and breast-cancer awareness. Free screenings will be available. Appointments are required for cholesterol, blood sugar and bone density tests and require a 12-hour fast. Display tables, massages, interactive dance and fitness, refreshments, door prizes and more will be featured.
A schedule of events follows:
•8 a.m. to 10 a.m. free health screening
•10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. guest speakers
• 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. heart healthy lunch.
Registration is required by April 10 and is limited to the first 300 women. To register, call Humility of Mary Healthline toll free at (877) 700-4647. Participants are asked to wear red in support of women’s heart health. Attire will be casual, including comfortable shoes for exercise and dance. Free parking is available in the M2 lot on Fifth Ave.
Other sponsors include Anthem, American Heart Association, American Stroke Association, Associates in Women’s Health of the Mahoning Valley, Third Baptist Church Health Awareness, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and Youngstown State University. Susan Moorer is chairperson of the event and Anne R. Cobbin is president of the chapter.
