When moving, detail contents on the box

Dear Heloise: I read a hint about moving boxes in the (Mansfield, Ohio) News Journal, and it seemed having a master list of what was in the boxes was cumbersome.

We recently moved, and I found that the best way was to write on the box a detailed list of what was in it. We had sheets of paper that peel off and stick to the box. We needed items before we had time to completely unpack; we could just look at the boxes.

We also set boxes in rows, three or four high, so we could walk between them and only had to move two or three boxes if we saw something in the bottom box that we needed. I thought these hints might be helpful to someone else. Helen Bailey, Mansfield, Ohio

Moving can be stressful, and your hints certainly will help relieve some of that stress. Make a copy of each list as a backup in case a box goes missing. Heloise

Dear Heloise: I can’t say enough about the benefits of using bra extenders when traveling. Whenever I have a night flight and it’s time to sleep, I just hook on the extender. I can still wear my bra, but it’s looser by about three inches in the back and definitely more comfortable. Bra extenders can be found in the notions section of most fabric stores. Hana from Hawaii

Dear Heloise: Remember those old rollers that you would use on your hair to make curls and look cute? A good use for them is to tie four or five rollers together with a rubber band and place them in the bottom of a flower vase. The curlers will act as a great holder for the flowers. And speaking of flowers, here’s a hint from Margaret in New Mexico: “I love to give flowers for some occasions, but I hate losing my vases. I have been cutting the plastic jacket off of the flavored liquid coffee creamers. The bottle under it is usually white. Flower stems fit in them very well. You can put a bow on a pick and stick in with the flowers or tie one around the bottle.” Heloise

Dear Heloise: During spring break, many of my friends go camping. With the enjoyment of nature comes environmental responsibility. Dispose of trash properly so that wildlife is not entrapped by it. The results are deadly.

Remember to rinse and cut the odd-shaped yogurt cups that can get caught on the snout of small mammals with forelimbs too small to remove them. M.M., via e-mail

Dear Heloise: I keep the coupon section that comes in the Sunday newspaper and place it in a color file so it is easy to spot and carry with me as I go to grocery and discount stores. This helps keep the coupon booklet organized, and I am prepared to use the right coupon. Trina in Kentucky
