Ohio state patrol, local law enforcement out in full force on St. Patrick’s Day
COLUMBUS — The Ohio State Highway Patrol today announced that troopers will work with local law enforcement agencies to operate Operating a Vehicle Impaired checkpoints to deter and intercept impaired drivers next week during the St. Patrick’s Day period.
The counties where the checkpoints will take place will be announced the day before the checkpoints, and the locations will be announced the morning of the checkpoints.
“OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving, but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways,” said Col. Richard H. Collins, state highway patrol superintendent.
If you plan to consume alcohol on St. Patrick’s Day, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink, Collins added.
Operational support for the sobriety checkpoints will be provided by local law enforcement agencies.
