Academic calendar

The school board has approved changes to the 2009-10 calendar that include starting classes a week before Labor Day. The decision was based partially on the late date of the holiday this year — Sept. 7, one week later than last year’s date of Sept. 1. Highlights:

Aug. 31 — First day of classes.

Sept. 3 — Canfield Fair waiver day.

Sept. 4,7 — Labor Day holiday.

Nov. 25-30 — Thanksgiving break.

Dec. 22-Jan. 4 — Winter break.

April 2-11 — Spring break.

June 8 — Last day of classes.
