“The Chopping Block” (8 p.m., NBC): On another TV battle front, the combatants are told, “You have to be brave.” No, they’re not trying to destroy Rome. They’re trying to open a successful New York restaurant. And the man who’s spouting the rallying cries is mouthy, celebrated chef Marco Pierre White, who puts on a brave front for NBC’s new cooking competition, “The Chopping Block.” Eight couples are split into rival teams, each of which must launch a brand-new restaurant overnight in midtown Manhattan. Both establishments will open at the same time, in sight of each other, as they compete for the same clientele — not to mention White’s good will. The couple that does best will be treated to a grand prize of $250,000.
“Ghost Hunters” (9 p.m., Sci-Fi Channel): The gang investigates a 313-year-old house to see if anyone is lurking about.
“South Park” (10 p.m., Comedy Central): The randy animated hit is back for its 13th season.
