UW and AFL-CIO begin shoebox campaign
YOUNGSTOWN — The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley and AFL-CIO Community Services are coordinating the collection of items for personal care packages as part of their “Shoebox Full of Love and Hope” project. The care packages will go to local food pantries, homeless shelters and United Way agencies to help those in need in our community.
For those who wish to donate, travel size personal care items are preferred and are being collected now through April 15 at the United Way, 255 Watt St. For monetary donations, make checks payable to AFL-CIO Community Service Committee Shoebox Project and mail to AFL-CIO Community Service Committee, 255 Watt St., Youngstown OH 44505.
During the United Way Youth Day of Caring, April 25, youth volunteers will put the items into tote bags or shoeboxes for distribution.
