River rising in city plagued by flooding

FINDLAY, Ohio (AP) — Downtown business owners piled sandbags in front of their storefronts Monday to protect against rising waters in a city still recovering from two previous floods in the last year and a half.

Water covered the city’s main street and forced some people from their homes after weekend rain caused the Blanchard River to rise to 15.4 feet Monday, about 4 feet above the flood stage.

Another 1 to 2 inches of rain was forecast to start near daybreak today.
