A sampling of the stimulus project proposals submitted by individuals in Ohio:

$100 million to build a gold statue of President Barack Obama

$6.75 million to start a beef jerky company, an animal day care and a series of home renovations

$250,000 to expand a carwash business

$200,000 to reopen a clothes store for motorcyclists

$184,000 to cover a resident’s energy-efficient home improvements

$100,000 to train professional magicians and teach magic as therapy

$40,000 to help a laid-off retail worker go to law school

$10,000 to pay off a family’s loans

$8,000 to fund middle-school sports uniforms
