Condition of man ejected from vehicle still unclear
WOLF CREEK, Pa. — The condition of a man who was ejected from his vehicle on Interstate 80 has not been disclosed.
The Mercer County Post of the Pennsylvania State Police said that about 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Michael Beshong, 36, of Rochester, Pa., was thrown from his vehicle after it went out of control and rolled over into the median. He was near the Grove City exit, traveling west on Interstate 80.
Police said Beshong, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained serious injuries, was taken to Grove City Hospital and then flown by helicopter to St. Elizabeth’s Health Center in Youngstown.
Beshong’s condition was not released to the public as of Sunday evening.
Child-care enrollment
AUSTINTOWN — The Expand Your Wings child-care center and after-school program will have open enrollment for all children with or without disabilities.
The center, located at 132 Westchester Drive, Suite 5, specializes in autism, mental development delays and disabilities.

Health board applications
WARREN — The Trumbull County Health District Advisory Council and Trumbull County Board of Health are reopening applications for anyone interested in applying for a position on the county health board. Applicants already on file will still be considered for the position.
To qualify, a person must be a U.S. citizen and registered voter. Residents of the cities of Warren, Niles and Girard are not eligible.
Those interested need to fill out a nominating petition and submit a letter of interest and r sum to the Trumbull County District Advisory Council, in care of Johnna Ben, Trumbull County Health Department, 176 Chestnut Ave., N.E., Warren, OH 44483.
Deadline is Friday.

Girard Cemetery cleanup
GIRARD — Spring cleanup at Girard Cemetery has been scheduled through April 1 for removing Christmas decorations from the graves.
After April 1, employees will be removing any Christmas decorations in preparation for Easter and Memorial Day.

Citizen’s Police Academy
YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Police Department will have a Citizen’s Police Academy for 10 weeks from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, March 26 through May 28.
This program is designed to give an overview of the department’s policies and procedures. The curriculum and teaching methods are similar to the traditional police academy.
The Youngstown Police Department hopes to create a greater awareness, understanding and closer relationship between the community and the police.
The academy will accept the first 40 students who qualify.

Travel open house
NILES — AAA East Central, Trumbull County Branch, 937 Youngstown Warren Road, will host a travel open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 21.
The open house will feature all types of travel: driving vacations, cruises, packages, international travel and Amtrack. Other items to be covered include car rentals and hotel reservations.
The Travel Store will be open, and AAA employees will be available to assist with purchases of items including luggage, Visa travelers checks and auto accessories.
Wildlife attraction
NILES — The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry will team with Gander Mountain to help property owners attract deer, turkey, songbirds and more to their woodlots.
Gander Mountain, 2390 Niles Cortland Road, will host a free, two-hour Division of Forestry seminar at 10 a.m. March 28. Ohio foresters will explain which trees and shrubs attract and provide food for wildlife. They will also discuss ways to create cover and travel corridors for wildlife, and other woodland improvement practices.

Waste collection days
WARREN — The Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District will have its 2009 household hazardous waste collection days from 9 a.m. to noon May 2, June 6 and Aug. 1.
Items such as paint, oil, anti-freeze, propane tanks and computer equipment will be accepted. The collections will be at 5138 Enterprise Blvd., just off Parkman Road near the state Route 82 Bypass on the north end of Warren.
An appliance collection day will be from 9 a.m. to noon April 4. Workers will be available to unload vehicles.
