ANTIQUE SHOWS

• Howland Community Church, 198 Niles-Cortland Road S.E., Warren, will have its 47th annual antiques show and sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p. m. March 27 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 28. The donation is $3. Marcel Ulrich will be on hand to conduct appraisals from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 27. Appraisals will be $5 each and limited to two items per person.

BAZAARS

• Salem Memorial Building Association will have a spring bazaar with more than 50 tables of arts, crafts and baked goods from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Vendors can rent a table with chairs for $25 for both days (plus one donated item for a Chinese auction). For rental information, call (330) 332-5512. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Free vendor parking is available. Checks or money orders should be payable to Salem Memorial Building.

BINGO AND CARD PARTIES

• Austintown Eagles Auxiliary has scheduled a card party, bingo and Chinese auction from 2 to 5 p.m. March 22 at 1655 S. Raccoon Road to raise money for scholarships. The public is invited to the event. Admission price of $5 per person includes a spaghetti dinner. For more information, call the Eagles at (330) 799-8887. Tickets will be sold at the door.

• Sacred Heart Church, 400 Lincoln Park Drive, Youngstown, has scheduled a Texas Hold’em poker tournament for March 28 at the church with registration beginning at 2:30 p.m. Admission is $100 for 3,300 chips. Pay in advance by Saturday and receive $300 extra chips. The entry fee includes a home-cooked dinner at 3:30 and beverage. Games begin at 4:30. The event is compliant with Ohio laws, and there is a guaranteed 60 percent payout.

• A card and bingo party will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. March 22 at St. Mary Church, state Route 46, Mineral Ridge. Tickets are $5 each and are available only in advance; there will be no tickets at the door. Lunch and a chance for a variety of door prizes are included. • St. Patrick Altar and Rosary Society will sponsor a card and bingo party at 1 p.m. March 29 at the church hall on Main Street in Hubbard. Tickets will be $5 at the door. There will be a light lunch, door prizes, raffles and a 50-50 drawing.

DANCES

• USA DANCE will give free tango lessons when it meets Sunday at the Orthodox Center, 1025 N. Belle Vista Ave. Free tutoring for beginners and basics will be offered at 5 p.m. followed at 5:30 with tango lessons by Lyndall McPhail.

There will be open dancing from 6:15 to 9. The public is invited, with or without partners. Admission is $5 for dance members, $10 for guests and $2.50 for students.

NIGHTS AT THE RACES

• St. Nicholas School is planning a Night at the Races with a Touch of Vegas on Saturday at the parish center, 762 Fifth St., Struthers. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and races begin at 7. Admission, food and soda are free, and there will be 25-cent draught beer, as well as door prizes, blackjack, two-card draw and more. Adults 21 and older are invited. SALES

• Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore, 480 Youngstown-Poland Road, Struthers, is open Wednesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The ReStore carries a wide variety of furniture, including a large selection of couches and many large metal professional office desks; used building materials such as doors, windows, sinks, hardware and plumbing; lighting; home decor items; large and small appliances; electronics; toys; books and much more. All items are sold at low discount prices. ReStore takes donations and sells to the public, all to benefit Habitat for Humanity’s home-building program. • Lawrence County Garden Club will sponsor a jewelry and accessory sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Hoyt Institute, 124 E. Leasure Ave., New Castle, Pa. Featured will be sterling silver Silpada jewelry and “Boutique to You” designer-inspired purses, wallets, sunglasses and other accessories. Refreshments will be served. Proceeds will be used for the upkeep of the gardens at the Hoyt.

• Salvation Army Thrift Store in Austin Center, Mahoning Avenue, Austintown, is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. A variety of men’s, women’s and children’s clothing and bric-a-brac is available at bargain prices.

• Vendors are invited to participate in a Kids Stuff sale March 21 at the Saxon Club, 710 Meridian Road, Austintown. Tables in an 8-by-8-foot space can be rented for $20. Table renters keep all the profits. Admission will be $5 for early birds from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., and general admission will be $1 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There will be raffles and a bake sale. TRIPS

• Trumbull County Travel Club is inviting anyone over 18 to travel with the club on two one-day excursions in April. On April 15 there will be a trip to Ferrante’s Lakeview Inn in Greensburg, Pa., for a luncheon followed by a performance by Cahal Dunne. The outing will cost $79 per person. On April 29 the trip will be to the Riverside Inn in Cambridge Springs, Pa., for lunch, a performance of “A Weekend Comedy” and tour of the inn. The cost is $58 per person. SPECIAL EVENTS

• Holy Family Home and School Alliance will host a reverse raffle March 21 at The Georgetown in Boardman. Each ticket is $75 and includes a raffle ticket, dinner and open bar. An additional dinner can be purchased for $25 with the purchase of a raffle ticket. The event begins at 6:30 p.m., dinner is at 7:30 and the raffle follows. The grand prize is $3,000. • OSU Master Gardeners has planned a fourth annual “Springtime at the Garden 2009” from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 9 on the grounds of Trumbull County Agricultural and Family Education Center, 520 W. Area crafters, antique and collectible dealers, herbalists, garden art vendors and civic organizations are invited to participate.
