The 17th annual senior tournament of the Youngstown USBC Women’s Bowling Association will be held the weekend of April 4-5.

The dates and times are April 4 at 2 p.m. and April 5 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Camelot Lanes.

Entry fee of $15 should be made payable to the Youngstown-Salem USBC Women’s Senior Tournament and mailed before March 27 to Betty Kana, 2936 Eddie Street, Youngstown 44509.

Entry forms are available at local bowling centers.

Each first-place division winner will receive first-place prize money, plus a paid entry into the 18th annual senior tournament in 2010.

Winner Logistics Transportation Systems and West Side Pizza Joe’s are co-sponsors of the senior event, which has five divisions: Class AA (77 years-over), Class A (70-76), Class B (65-69), Class C (60-64) and Class D (55-59).

Dan Montemarano, Ray Grow and John Doughton all had 300s in Variety Mixed at Holiday.

Dennis Lowry and Joe Mortellaro had identical high games of 290 and sets of 715 in St. Dominic Men at Holiday on March 1.

George Davis III had his first 300 in the Duncan Tax Services League at West Side. Davis’ set was 696.

Andrea Lucente had 300-746 on Feb. 23 in Wednesday Nite Ladies at Wedgewood and Annie Bartoletti had 290-699 in Four Co’s at Boardman, where Vinnie Zimbardi’s 299-766 paced Juniors. Bartoletti recently rolled 276 in Wedgewood Ladies Trio.

The “Sticker Secretary,” Shirley Miller of Golden Gals at Wedgewood, continues to entertain the simplest of individuals — like me — with her scoresheet art.

Her latest contribution is a “Top O’ the Morning” shamrock.

A bronze conference training program for bowling coaches and those interested in coaching will be at Freeway Lanes in Lanes, March 20-22.

Coaches attending will receive training that will prepare them to work with intermediate-level bowlers. It is also designed to supply individuals with the tools and information to pursue coaching as a profession.

The course continues to develop the four essential keys of the sport: physical game, lane play, equipment and mental game. Cost is $305.
