AWARD WINNER: This photograph of John F. Kennedy campaigning in Youngstown in October 1960 was selected by the National Press Photographers Association in March 1961 to tour the United States in a collection of “News Photographs of the Year.” Vindicator Photographer Paul R. Schell slugged his photograph “The Crush.” It was one of a number of award winning photos Schell took during a 29-year career at The Vindicator. Schell died Monday at the age of 86.
