IRS office in Youngstown to be open for assistance

YOUNGSTOWN — The downtown office of the Internal Revenue Service will be open March 21 for taxpayers who need assistance. The office at 10 E. Commerce St. is one of 19 offices in Ohio and West Virginia that are opening for additional hours on what the IRS calls Super Saturday. Offices will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

IRS staff will be preparing basic tax returns for taxpayers whose income is less than $42,000, resolving tax issues, answering tax law questions, making account adjustments, accepting payments, establishing payment agreements for those who cannot pay taxes in full and providing tax forms.

Inventors association to meet in Liberty

LIBERTY — The Youngstown & Warren Inventors Association will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Liberty Township administration building, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road. The guest speaker will be Robert Rist, co-president of Ohio Airships Inc. in Mantua, Ohio. Rist will give a presentation on his company’s air vehicle called the Dynalifter. The meeting is open to the public and there is no charge.

Eastwood Mall getting two new restaurants

NILES — The Eastwood Mall has added a new restaurant and has another on the way.

Bon Pan opened Feb. 19 in the food court. By the middle of April, Top Notch Diner will open its doors near the main entrance to the mall. Both eateries are locally owned.

Bon Pan specializes in a made-to-order assortment of deli sandwiches, burgers, wraps and paninis. Top Notch Diner, which also has a location in Cortland, will be open before regular mall hours with a breakfast menu, and it will offer “American diner” favorites for lunch and dinner. It also will have a full-service bar.

Mayor Williams to speak at chamber breakfast

YOUNGSTOWN — Mayor Jay Williams will speak at the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber’s Good Morning, Youngstown! Breakfast on March 13. The event will be from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Pathways of Ohio offers counseling services

POLAND — Pathways of Ohio Counseling Services has started offering comprehensive mental health services at 30 N. Main St. Treatment options are offered to adults, children, adolescents, families and couples for relationship issues, anxiety, depression, grief, loss, aging concerns, bipolar and other serious mental health disorders. In-home therapy is also available.

Department of Aging seeks Depression stories

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Department of Aging is soliciting stories from Ohioans who lived through the Great Depression of the 1930s.

Lessons and advice drawn from these accounts will be shared in department publications as well as on its Web site. Stories should be about 500 words long and include the individual’s name, location and age. Mail them to: Ohio Department of Aging, Communications Division, 50 W. Broad St., Columbus OH, 43215-3363. Stories may also be e-mailed to depressionstories@age.state.oh.us. Stories should be received by April 10.
