NILES — Special Needs Expo ’09 is from noon to 5 p.m. May 2 at the Eastwood Expo Center in the Eastwood Mall complex.

This event is free and open to the public. The targeted audience includes parents with special needs children, special needs adults, special education teachers, medical professionals and community leaders throughout the state of Ohio and western Pennsylvania.
Extravaganza in April
EAST LIVERPOOL — The East Liverpool Cancer Support Group is offering a Spring Cancer Extravaganza on April 2 at the East Liverpool Motor Lodge.
Doors open at 5 p.m. The cost of admission and a rigatoni dinner is $20. There will be basket raffles, 10 Longaberger prizes valued at more than $100 each and a 50-50 raffle.

Midwife offers classes
BOARDMAN — Rachel Sieman of Poland, a certified nurse- midwife, is offering a free 90-minute preconception and pregnancy class from 6:30 to 8 p.m. March 23 at the Georgeanna Parker Activity Center in Boardman Park.

YOUNGSTOWN — A free community health fair is offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at Youngstown Christian School, 4401 Southern Blvd.
Health-care specialists will offer information, and representatives from WellnessOne, Youngstown Christian School, Curves, Small Smiles Dental Centers, AFLAC, Humility of Mary Health Partners, Centers of Hearing Care, Barnes and Noble will also be present.
There will be free health screenings, and HMHP will offer cholesterol checks from 9 a.m. to noon for $5.

Conference in May
LIBERTY — A Minority Physicians Conference, sponsored by the Mahoning County Cancer Coalition of Humility of Mary Health Partners, Forum Health and the American Cancer Society, is May 2 at the MetroPlex Hotel and Conference Center, 1620 Motor Inn Drive.
Registration is from 8:30 to 9 a.m., and the program runs from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost of $10 includes brunch. Scholarships are available.
