BOARDMAN — Township trustees are seeking letters of interest from residents who would like to serve on the board of park commissioners. A letter should be submitted to the attention of Stephanie Landers at the township government center, 8299 Market St., Boardman 44512, by March 27. An appointment will be made at the April 22 trustees’ meeting. More information on park commissioners’ duties can be found in Ohio Revised Code Section 511.23.

Spring Clean Up Day

HERMITAGE, Pa. — Buhl Farm Park will be having its annual Spring Clean Up Day, beginning at 9 a.m. March 28. Volunteers should meet in front of the Casino. Volunteers should bring gloves, rakes and garbage bags. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call (724) 981-5522.

‘Food in History’

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Historical Center will present a children’s history program Saturday, titled “Good Eats: Food in History” at 151 W. Wood St. between 1 and 3 p.m. Young historians will learn about food from prehistoric times to the modern era, including the food of the Egyptians, the Greeks, the Romans, the Middle Ages and later times. A simple prehistoric dish will be made and sampled by the students. The children’s history program is for young historians between ages 8 and 13. Order trees and fish

COLUMBIANA —The Columbiana Soil and Water Conservation District is again selling tree seedling packets to anyone who wants to make a small planting. Orders should be placed as soon as possible. This year, about 30 varieties can be ordered; pickup will be April 15 through 17.

The spring fish sale for local pond and lake owners offers various fish species such as large-mouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish, crappie, perch and white amur. Deadline for ordering fish is April 10; fish will be available for pickup at 2:30 p.m. April 14 at the SWCD office in Salem.

Landowners interested in purchasing trees or fish can pick up an order form at the SWCD office, 1834-B South Lincoln Ave., Salem, or call (330) 332-8732 or 1 (877) 345-1198 to receive an order form, which includes complete descriptions of all listed tree seedlings and a fish stocking guide.
