Move your clocks ahead tonight

Don't forget to turn your clocks ahead tonight. Daylight-saving time starts at 2 a.m.

And the Ohio Department of Commerce’s Division of State Fire Marshal and local fire departments across the state also encourage Ohioans to make it a habit to change the batteries in their smoke detectors in conjunction with that. At least twice a year, at the beginning and end of daylight savings time, batteries should be changed, and the detectors should be tested monthly, they say.

To date in 2009, at least 21 people have died in fires reported to the Division of State Fire Marshal. Smoke detectors were present and functioning in only three of those fires.
