WARREN — A 40-year-old man has been sentenced to three years in prison for driving a car that was involved in a two-car accident in Niles in 2007 that killed a passenger in his car.
Steven W. Mayberry, who has addresses on Chamber Street in Campbell and Wilmington Road in New Castle, also will lose his driver’s license for five years.
Judge John M. Stuard of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court handed down the sentence this week.
Mayberry earlier pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide, two counts of aggravated vehicular assault and hit/skip failure to stop after an accident, all felonies. He could have gotten up to 19 years in prison.
Niles police said he was driving a car on Fenton Street on June 30, 2007 when it collided with another vehicle, killing his passenger, Kelly Fierman, 29, of Lincoln Avenue, Struthers, and injuring three occupants of the other vehicle.
