Grants

Since 2000, fire departments in Mahoning County have received nearly $11 million in federal, state and private grants to provide training and buy equipment. The amounts by year and some purchases:

Austintown Fire Department received a $275,000 federal grant last year to buy a pumper truck.

Also last year, Berlin got a $35,500 federal grant to buy a rescue boat.

This year, Western Reserve Joint Fire District shared a $620,800 federal grant for computer equipment for all county departments.
