KINDERGARTEN

Registration

Schools are beginning to register children for kindergarten for the 2009-10 school year. In most cases, children must be 5 years old by Sept. 30, 2009, and must have proof of state-required immunizations, their birth certificate, a Social Security number and proof of residency at the time of registration. Parental identification and proof of legal custody may also be required. Other requirements are listed with each school.

Jackson-Milton: Registration for kindergarten and new pupils in first through fifth grade will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Jackson-Milton Elementary School, 14110 Mahoning Ave, North Jackson. Proof of residency must be in the following form: one of the following — house closing papers, deed, mortgage documents, building permit, rental lease or rental agreement; plus one of the following — two current utility bills, two current charge statements, driver’s license, tax statement.

Anyone interested in open enrollment should also register at these times.

Youngstown: Registration will begin Monday. Two legal proofs of residence and parent photo identification are required.

Paul C. Bunn, 1825 Sequoya Drive: 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.

Harding, 1903 Cordova Ave.: 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 2 to 3 p.m.

Martin Luther King, 2724 Mariner Ave.: 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Kirkmere, 2851 Kirk road: 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.

McGuffey, 310 S. Schenley Ave.: 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.

Taft, 730 Avondale Ave.: 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.

Williamson, 58 Williamson Ave.: 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.

Zion Christian School: Contact Rachel Gonatas at the school office at (330) 792-4066 for registration times and tours or attend final registration from 3 to 6 p.m. March 23 at the school, 3300 Canfield Road, Youngstown.
