Scholarships

Here is information on college scholarship opportunities, both general and targeting various special interest groups:

Tage and Irena Hojfeldt Memorial Scholarship: Established at the University of Akron by Irena in memory of her late husband, a renowned chef in the Akron area. Irena holds both an associate and a bachelor’s degree from the university.

The scholarship will perpetuate Chef Hojfeldt’s legacy to maintaining the highest standards in culinary training and will support students who are pursuing associate degrees in the Summit College hospitality management program.

Mahoning County Bar Association Foundation: Now accepting applications for scholarships available to students attending law school. In addition to its General Scholarship, there are scholarships in memory of Atty. Irwin I. Kretzer and Atty. Harlan Small.

Applications are available by calling the association at (330) 746-2933, by e-mailing mcarroll@mahoningbar.org or by contacting Paul A. Sracic at Youngstown State University at (330) 941-3436. They must be received by the association no later than May 20.
