LOUIE TODAY: Ed Port, Harry Meshel, Dr.Judith Orloff, Black 47
Louie will talk today with Ed Port, who's facial deformity has limited his ability to secure a job, hampered him socially and affected his hearing and sight.
Port, 38, was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis type 2, which causes a growing tumor in his face, when he was 3 or 4., and had 18 to 21 surgeries between the ages of 7 and 19.
Growth of the tumor has obscured his vision in his left eye, damaged his hearing and led to the removal of part of his jawbone. His health insurance considers the series of surgeries required to correct the problem cosmetic, however, and won’t cover them, Port said.
Also joining today's discussions will be Harry Meshel, former state senator, and Dr.Judith Orloff, MD an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at UCLA and author of the new international bestseller"Emotional Freedom." She synthesizes the pearls of traditional medicine with cutting edge knowledge of intuition, energy, and spirituality to achieve physical and emotional healing.
Then, Larry Kikrwan from Black 47 — who'll play in Cleveland this weekend. Black 47 espouses an unblinkingly political and thoroughly Irish form of rock 'n' roll, with songs covering topics from the Northern Ireland conflict to civil rights and urban unrest in contemporary New York.
