Fairfield Ruritan offers scholarships
STAFF REPORT
COLUMBIANA — The Fairfield Township Ruritan Club is offering a “Learn and Earn” Scholarship program for three current high school juniors.
Each school in the township (Columbiana, Crestview and Heartland Christian) will have one student selected to “earn” a $1,000 scholarship to the college or trade school of their choice upon graduation from high school.
Students must have at least a 2.75 GPA and live in the township. They must be willing to attend 12 Ruritan Club meetings, serve as an ex-officio member of the club board and attend a four-day National Ruritan Teen Leadership Development Program in Virginia.
They also will be expected to volunteer at the Ruritan Classic Car Show in July, the club golf outing in August and the chicken barbecue dinner in October.
The program goal is to rekindle the spirit of giving through community service.
Letters of application should be sent to: Fairfield Township Ruritan Club, Learn and Earn Program, PO Box 284, Columbiana, OH 44408. The letter should contain the student’s name, address, telephone number, high school and a request for consideration written in the student’s own words.
Wednesday is the application deadline.
