Boardman native to sing at Shrine of St. Patrick

Colleen McNally Harris of Boardman will perform at the annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration at the Shrine of St. Patrick in St. Patrick, Mo.

Harris is a singer of Celtic and sacred music who has released several albums. She has been a cantor in the Cathedral of St. Columba in Youngstown for more than 12 years, and has performed as a soprano soloist. As a member of the Youngstown Symphony Chorus, she has sung at Carnegie Hall in New York.

St. Patrick, Mo., is the only city in the United States with that name. It’s post office does a booming business around St. Patrick’s Day, because of its postmark. The city was founded by Irish immigrants and retains its heritage.

SounDoctrine expands scope with new office

SounDoctrine, the Youngstown-based jazz-fusion group, is moving into office space in downtown Youngstown to expand its music and marketing operations. The band will be doing business as SounDoctrine Multimedia Entertainment Group. It will open its doors on Monday in the MyTown Business Development Center, 26 E. Federal St., Suite 309.

“We are committed to Youngstown’s revitalization and felt that our being in the heart of the city would accelerate the growth we’re experiencing musically and professionally and would inspire other creative artists as well,” said Jere Beulah, the group’s founder.

Some of SounDoctrine’s new ventures include expanding its Soul Food Music Publishing division and Niayana Recordings label to include Christian soul artist Stefano; producing material for Los Angeles-based songstress Gail Harris; preparing for Jim Couchenour’s upcoming “Quiet Canvas II” project; and releasing the band’s fourth album, “Inspire,” in May.

Area musicians can send demos to the office as well. “We’ll assist in their career goals any way we can,” said Beulah, who added, “we’re only seeking positive music. We don’t do hardcore in any genre.”

SounDoctrine’s music continues to air nationally on The Weather Channel. The band is also planning an East Coast tour this summer.
