Slumping Cincinnati loses to So. Florida

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Dominique Jones scored 30 points and South Florida defeated Cincinnati 70-59 on Tuesday night.

Augustus Gilchrist added 13 points and Alex Rivas chipped in 10 for South Florida (9-20, 4-13 Big East). Jones, a sophomore, added eight rebounds and five assists.

The Bulls entered the game having lost nine of their last 10 games and six in a row since an upset of No. 8 Marquette on Feb. 6.

Yancy Gates scored 14 points to lead Cincinnati (18-12, 8-9). Deonta Vaughn added 13 and Alvin Mitchell had 11 for the Bearcats, who have dropped four of their last five games.

Among the highlights for South Florida fans was a stretch of three 3-pointers in four attempts by Bulls freshman guard Justin Leemow, who had missed 23 consecutive field goal tries over eight games.
