Officials to fill part-time posts in new neighboring program

STAFF REPORT

WARREN — Trumbull County commissioners are planning today to formally hire Vincent E. Schuyler, a former Girard mayor and police officer, and Nicole A. Victor-Agani, a customer-service representative, to fill the two part-time positions in the new senior citizens neighboring program.

The program, already operating, is run by the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Department with $50,000 per year from the senior citizens levy, which was approved by voters countywide in November 2005.

The program’s main goals are to protect senior citizens age 60 and over from scam artists and to connect them with services.

The program was suggested by the Area Agency on Aging 11, which oversees spending of the levy money for the county commissioners.

The program will operate throughout the county, except in the cities.

The program makes use of the Trumbull 211 telephone help line and brings newspaper and mail carriers and others on board to help watch out for senior citizens, officials say.

Schuyler and Victor-Agani will each be paid $12 per hour for 20 hours per week.

Schuyler was Girard mayor from 1992 to 1999, a Girard police captain from 1973 to 1991 and a police officer from 1960 to 1973. He has been a substitute teacher in the Girard school district since 2002.

Victor-Agani has worked as a telecommunicator for West Corp. since 2007 and a medical researcher from 2002 through 2007 and was an Ohio farming lobbyist from 1993 through 1998.
