Fire destroys North Lima home

NORTH LIMA — Fire destroyed a Laird Drive home early Wednesday. The cause hasn’t been determined and the state fire marshal’s office is investigating.

Beaver firefighters were called about 2 a.m. to 457 Laird in the Woodworth area to find the house fully engulfed.

No one was home but because there were two cars in the driveway firefighters didn’t realize the house was empty until one of the occupants came home, said fire Chief Russ Osborne.

“It was very, very cold,” he said.

A firefighter who slipped on the ice was treated at the hospital for an arm injury. The chief said the injury is minor, but the firefighter is expected to be off work for a couple of weeks.

Firefighters from New Springfield assisted.
