The sales slump for General Motors Corp. is continuing.

GM reported today that its overall sales in February, as well as sales of the Chevrolet Cobalt, were down more than 50 percent when compared with the same month last year.

Despite the decline, the Cobalt numbers were better than they were in January. GM sold 8,317 of the Lordstown-built cars last month, compared with 5,191 the previous month and 16,958 in February 2008.

Overall, GM sold 127,296 vehicles last month, compared with 270,423 in February 2008.
