Traffic stop leads to passenger’s arrest on three warrants
BOARDMAN — A traffic stop led to the car’s passenger being arrested on warrants from several Mahoning Valley police agencies, as well as a new charge accusing him of obstructing official business.
A police officer saw that a car failed to stop early Sunday at a stop sign at Glenwood Avenue and West Boulevard.
The officer identified the driver and then saw that the passenger wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. The passenger said he didn’t have identification with him but gave his name as William B. Bonner with a birthday in 1983. Police dispatch found nothing on file matching the name and birth date but found a William R. Bonner, with a 1981 birthday.
The officer identified the passenger as William R. Bonner, 27, Cleveland Street, Youngstown, using the computer image on file.
Dispatch also found that Bonner had three active warrants for his arrest: Mahoning County Sheriff’s office, probation violation for resisting arrest, obstructing officials business and disorderly conduct; Liberty police, failure to appear on a felony receiving stolen property charge; and Youngstown police, felony charge of failure to register as a sexual offender.
Bonner was arrested and township police added the charge of obstructing official business. He was taken to the Mahoning County jail.
The driver of the car was given a verbal warning.
