Service awards
Wapashuwi Lodge Order of the Arrow of the Greater Western Reserve Council Boy Scouts of America selected Porter Lyons as 2008 youth of the year and Matt Sinn as 2008 adult of the year.
The awards are presented for outstanding service to the lodge while exemplifying the spirit of the Order of the Arrow.
Porter is a member of Boy Scout Troop 62 of Garrettsville and serves the lodge as executive vice chief.
Sinn of Berlin Center serves the lodge as ceremonies adviser and is a Vigil Honor member.
Col. Udo K. McGregor, commander of the 910th Airlift Wing at Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Vienna, gave the keynote address at the order’s winter banquet at Canfield United Methodist Church fellowship hall.
The Order of the Arrow has more than 180,000 members located in lodges affiliated with 310 local BSA councils.

Counselor education
Melinda Heher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Heher of Canfield, graduated from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, with a doctorate in counselor education and supervision.
Heher earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Kent State University in 1997 and a master’s degree in community counseling from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1999.
As a licensed professional counselor and a national certified counselor, Heher continues to work for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Western Psychiatric Institute and clinic, and is an adjunct professor in the counseling, psychology and special education department at Duquesne.
She and her husband, Louis Cipriani, live in Moon Township, Pennsylvania.
