YOUNGSTOWN — Police are investigating two separate shootings in the city an hour apart.

Police said two men started arguing in the parking lot of the South Avenue Gas Mart on South Avenue on the South Side just before 10 p.m. Sunday. Police said the argument was over a woman who has a child with one of the men, but is dating the other man.

Two women separated the men before the confrontation became physical, and one man went into the store to continue shopping.

According to police, the other man fired three shots from a shotgun through the store’s glass front door. Witnesses told police that man then came into the store and fired several more shots in the direction of the other man before leaving the area in a gray Chevrolet Trailblazer.

No one was injured. Police went to the shooter’s home with an arrest warrant, but no one was there. Police towed the Trailblazer.

An hour later, police were called to the 1400 block of Maplewood Court on the East Side for another shooting.

An 18-year-old woman told police she was getting out of her car in the parking lot of a building when someone shot at her 1991 Buick. Reports said the bullet came through the rear passenger window and came out through the front driver’s-side window, narrowly missing the woman.

The woman told police this was the second time someone has shot at her or her home in the past several days.
