Ohio prosecutor seeks to block double-killer’s parole

CINCINNATI (AP) — A prosecutor is asking the Ohio Parole Board to block the release of a man who killed two co-workers and wounded two others in a 1981 workplace shooting spree.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters has sent a letter to the Ohio Parole Board asking it to deny parole for Lawrence McNair.

The 70-year-old McNair, scheduled to be considered for parole in August, is serving two consecutive sentences of seven to 25 years at the Chillicothe Correctional Institution.

McNair had just been fired from his job at Diamond International Corp. in suburban Lockland when he fatally shot his foreman and plant manager and wounded two other employees.

Last month Deters asked the board to deny parole to a man convicted of shooting a university student to death 37 years ago.
