YOUNGSTOWN — A city man escaped unharmed after being shot at outside a South Side gas station.
Police were called to the South Avenue Gas Mart on South Avenue about 10 p.m. Sunday after a man reportedly fired six shots inside and outside of the store.
The intended victim told police he and the gunman got into an argument over the mother of the victim’s child, who he said is dating the gunman.
The intended victim’s sister, who also was at the scene, said she tried to break up the argument, and the victim went into the store to avoid further confrontation.
She said a burgundy Oldsmobile with two male passengers pulled into the parking lot, and one of the men handed out a shotgun.
The shooter shot at the store’s glass door three times before entering the store and firing three more shots toward the victim, according to a police report.
According to the victim, the shooter fled the store East on Dewey Avenue in a gray 1993 Chevy Blazer, and the burgundy Oldsmobile fled West on Dewey Avenue.
Police said they found the Chevy Blazer at a residence on Dewey Avenue but were unable to locate the suspect.
