Special parks meeting

CANFIELD — Mill Creek MetroParks Board of Commissioners will have a special meeting Tuesday to discuss the hiring of a new police chief for the park district.

The meeting will be at 9:15 a.m. at the MetroParks administrative office on state Route 46 here. The commissioners will answer questions and then immediately adjourn to executive session.

Library receives grant

YOUNGSTOWN — The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County has received a $7,500 grant for Summer Reading Club 2009, a program for children of all ages in Mahoning County, from the Kennedy Family Foundation, a component fund of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley. The club is an annual library project that helps children and teens maintain their reading skills.

The Community Foundation is operated exclusively for charitable, educational and scientific purposes.
