Downtown events to help mark July Fourth

YOUNGSTOWN – The city of Youngstown has two events planned for this weekend to mark the Fourth of July.

A free fireworks show will begin at 9:25 p.m. Saturday at Covelli Centre, downtown. The lawn in front of the arena will be open for people to set up lawn chairs, and there will be free parking in the Plaza parking deck on East Boardman Street and in the surface parking lot on East Front Street. Parking will not be permitted in the lot behind Covelli Centre.

The band Jones for Revival, as well as Khaled Tabbara from the Zou, will perform beginning at 7 p.m. in Federal Square.

On Friday, a Pre-Independence Day Dash is planned. Patrons will begin at Buffalo Wild Wings on Wick Avenue and must visit 13 downtown bars and restaurants.

Participaing establishments are The Royal Oaks, Cassese’s MVR, The Youngstown Club, Cafe Cimmento, Buffalo Wild Wings, Barley’s, Skeeters, Downtown 36, The Old Precinct, Rosetta Stone, Imbibe, The Draught House and Cedars.

Tickets are $5 and are now available in advance at all locations and the evening of the event. Dashers who buy tickets in advance will get two free drink tickets if they bring their ticket to the registration area on Federal Plaza. Tickets will also be available the day of the event for $7, with all proceeds going to the Pincham Initiative Resource Center, which helps Youngstown residents prepare for the Ohio Graduation Test.

The first 100 people to visit each establishment will receive a free Downtown Dash T-shirt. Dashers are not required to consume alcohol at each location.
