Woodstock exhibit at Rock Hall of Fame

CLEVELAND — Peace and love will last a lot longer than three days at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, which is celebrating Woodstock’s 40th anniversary with a new exhibit.

From Friday to Nov. 29, the center will feature items from the legendary three-day weekend in upstate New York. The exhibit will also include the event’s original written plan from its producer, Michael Lang.

Several events are being planned to commemorate the anniversary of Woodstock, which took place from Aug. 15-17 in 1969 and featured Janis Joplin, The Who, Jimi Hendrix and dozens of other rock acts.

Crystal’s ‘700 Sundays’ will go on tour this fall

NEW YORK — Billy Crystal is taking his acclaimed stage autobiography, “700 Sundays,” on the road this fall.

“700 Sundays” was a Broadway success during the 2004-05 season, playing to sold-out houses and winning a Tony Award for special theatrical experience.

The show will play six cities, starting with Washington on Sept. 8-17. The 61-year-old actor-comedian will then visit Philadelphia, Dallas, Palm Beach, Fla., Miami, and Atlanta, where the tour will end Dec. 20.

‘Memphis’ on Broadway

NEW YORK — The musical “Memphis” is coming to Broadway.

It will open Oct. 19 at the Shubert Theatre, following four weeks of previews. It has played in Seattle and San Diego.

The musical, based on a concept by George W. George, follows a young white DJ in 1950s segregated Tennessee.

“Memphis” features music by Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan.

Keillor will return to Minn. for Fourth of July show

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Humorist Garrison Keillor is returning to Lake Wobegon to celebrate the 35th anniversary of his popular “A Prairie Home Companion” radio show.

Keillor has added a Fourth of July broadcast of his show from Avon, the central Minnesota town that helped inspire Lake Wobegon, his fictional hometown.

Avon is on the Lake Wobegon Trail, a 46-mile hike-and-bike pathway in Stearns County, which Keillor says “is about as close to Lake Wobegon as you can get.”

“A Prairie Home Companion” debuted July 6, 1974, at Macalester College in St. Paul. The show is heard on nearly 600 public radio stations nationwide.
