Members of original wedding party attend Davison anniversary dinner
POLAND —Family members honored Vern and Lois Davison of Poland for their 60th anniversary at a private dinner June 14 at a Northside residence.
The couple were married on June 10, 1949, at Struthers Presbyterian Church.
Special guests at the event were members of their wedding party, Don (June) Stoeber of Struthers, her brother; and Shirley (Jim) Bradick of Youngstown, her sister. Also present was Ruth Davison of Canfield, the wife of the late Robert O. Davison, the groom’s brother and best man.
Mr. Davison served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He received a business degree from Baldwin-Wallace College, and was the owner-operator of Town One Co. Inc. until 2007, when he retired and sold the business to his son.
Mrs. Davison, the former Lois Stoeber, received nurse’s training at the Youngstown Hospital School of Nursing and was a registered nurse at Northside Medical Center until retiring in 1981.
The Davison family includes a son, Tedd (Gail) Davison of Greenwood, S.C.; a daughter, Jill (Bill) Downie of Youngstown; and granddaughters, Missy (Brad) Walker of Canfield, Sara Davison of Poland, and Katie Davison of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Their step-grandchilden are Mandy (John) Crouch of Clemmons, N.C.; Mike (Temple) Simpson of Charleston, S.C.; Dale Downie of Columbus; and Beth Downie of Austintown. Their great-grandsons are Paul, Drew and Jake Walker of Canfield, and their step-great-granddaughters are Kaitlyn, Nora and Kim Crouch of Clemmons.
