Canoers rescued from Shenango River


NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Four people fell from a canoe into the Shenango River off state Route 168 in Taylor Township at 8:20 p.m. Saturday, two of them getting out of the river on their own and two being rescued by firefighters and taken to Jameson Memorial Hospital . Their conditions were unknown Saturday night, a Lawrence County 911 dispatcher said. Fire departments at the scene were Neshannock, New Castle, Taylor Township, South New Castle and Slippery Rock. No further details were available at press time.
