Steel Valley Rumble tonight at Campbell

Vindicator staff report

CAMPBELL — Campbell native Jake Giuriceo joins two promising lightweight prospects from Cleveland in tonight’s Steel Valley Rumble at the Campbell Memorial Field House.

Giuriceo (2-0, 1 KO), who now lives in Struthers, will meet Indianapolis veteran Lucas Rodas in a four-round welterweight bout.

One of the Cleveland fighters, Mickey Bey Jr. (12-0, 7 KOs) meets Puerto Rican southpaw Robert Acevedo (9-5-3, 1 KO) in a rematch of their February, 2008, bout on SHOBOX. Bey won that bout by unanimous decision.

Bey’s younger brother, junior welterweight Cortez Bey, will square off against Cleveland’s Henry White Jr. (3-3-1, 2 KOs).

Talented lightweight prospect Dannie Williams (10-0, 8 KOs), a St. Louis native, will meet Toledo’s Eric Ricker (2-2-0) in a six-round bout. Newcomer Dante Moore, 3-0-0 (2 KOs), of Cleveland will face Philadelphia native Vince Burkhalter (0-1-0) in a four-round junior middleweight bout.

In a feature attraction, Andres “Taylor Made” Taylor (8-0-1, 4 KOs) of Johnstown, Pa., will meet Montana native Leo Bercier (7-9-1, 4 KOs) in a cruiserweight fight. Taylor and Guiriceo fought on the undercard of Kelly Pavlik’s middleweight title fight on Feb. 21 at the Covelli Centre.

There will also be amateur bouts on the card, including one featuring Tyler “Lil’ Taylor Made” Taylor (2-0), the 14-year-old son of Andres.

Tickets range from $20 to $60. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the first bell at 7.

Pavlik will sign copies of his book “Kelly ‘The Ghost’ Pavlik: The Pride of Youngstown” from 2 p.m. to 4 today at the Border’s in Fairlawn, a suburb of Akron. Authors Greg Gulas and David Lee Morgan Jr. will also attend.
