Bellows’ homer tied the game at 3 in the top of the sixth inning but the Scrappers’ bullpen couldn’t hold on.

Jason Smit had the other hit for Mahoning Valley (6-2), which leads Batavia (4-1) in the Pinckney Division standings by a game.

Guido Fonseca (1-1) gave up one run over two innings to get the loss. Starter Brett Brach gave up three runs (all earned) on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

Corey Burns gave up three runsin two innings of relief, surrendering four hits while striking out two.

Williamsport’s Francisco Murillo went 2-for-4 with two homers and three RBIs.

Sebastian Valle and Micheal Dabbs each added homers for the Crosscutters (4-4).

The teams meet again at 7:05 tonight in the final game of a three-game series.

Mahoning Valley then plays at State College for three games before returning home for a three-game set with Williamsport beginning July 1.
