Scrappers wrap up More from Eastwood Field


Toles bobblehead: On Aug. 2, he first 1,000 fans will receive a bobblehead statue of Ted Toles, the former Negro League star from Warren and a native of New Castle, Pa. The team will also distribute Scrappy Bucks with a purchase at participating Subway restaurants. Scrappy Bucks provide a buy-one-get-one-free ticket offer for select game this season.

Scholarship deadline: Incoming high school seniors must complete and return applications to the Scrappers for scholarships sponsored by the New York-Penn League charitable foundation by July 15. The new program will award a $2,500 scholarship to three students, one from each of the league’s three divisions. The Scrappers are in the Pinckney Division. Students must be graduating seniors from a public or private high school. The scholarship is based on financial need, academic performance and other criteria. Applicants must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and also be engaged in extra curricular activities. Free tickets: Children 12 years old and younger who join Scrappy’s Kids Club will receive a ticket to all 38 Scrappers’ home games, in addition to a T-shirt, membership card, 10 percent souvenir discount, e-newsletter throughout the season and special discounts at area businesses. Free food: Children age 12 and under can eat free at every Saturday Scrappers’ home game. Children will be provided with a coupon entitling them to a free slice of pizza, bag of chips, and a 12 oz. soft drink.
